ODNI Releases Transparency Plan

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) released an implementation plan for the “Principles of Intelligence Transparency for the Intelligence Community.” According to the ODNI press release, the document is intended to facilitate Intelligence Community decisions on making information publicly available in an effort to enhance understanding of intelligence activities. Engility Wins USNORTHCOM Contract

Engility Holdings was awarded a $49 million contract to provide and support advanced technical communications systems for U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), serving the Department of Defense, first responders, homeland defense operations, and disaster relief activities. Under USNORTHCOM’s Deployable Communications Capabilities System umbrella project, Engility will provide full system lifecycle support, including capability design, solutions development, engineering, systems modifications, technical refresh, training, and repairs.

Leidos Awarded DARPA Contract

Leidos received an approximate $14 million prime contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to provide research and development in support of phase two for the Shared Spectrum Access for Radar and Communications program (SSPARC). The SSPARC program seeks to improve radar and communications capabilities through spectrum sharing.

Leidos also won a potential five-year, $662 million contract to provide design, configuration management, and aircraft integration to support the U.S. Army’s Airborne Reconnaissance Low-Enhanced (ARL-E) system. According to the press release, ARL-E provides tactical monitoring capabilities against potential threats in operational environments and has a plug-and-play system that can accommodate various types of sensors. Work is expected to be completed by 2020.

OGC & ASPRS Collaborate on Geospatial Standards

According to Space Daily, the Open Geospatial Consortium and the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing have partnered on the application and promotion of standards and best practices for the location and geospatial industries. The two organizations will develop use cases and requirements for open geospatial standards in the domains of data acquisition and dissemination, image processing, and remote sensing science.

First Mile Geo Releases Insights on Demand

First Mile Geo launched a new service called “Insights On Demand” which aims to merge the on-demand economy with real-time analytics. According to the company’s blog post, businesses can create a form or survey, drop a pin on one or several locations from which they are interested in gathering information, and gather immediate data from locals. Washington Technology Releases Top 100 List

Washington Technology ranked government contractors by their prime contract dollars in information technology, systems integrations, telecommunications, engineering and professional services to create its latest Top 100 list. USGIF organizational members Boeing, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon took the top five spots on the list. Several other USGIF members also made the Top 100 list.
