Apps for costumes, candy, and safety

Halloween is just days away! Here are some fun tools to help prepare your family for the big day.

Want to make sure no one else has the same Halloween costume? Google’s Frightgeist uses analytics to track which costumes are most popular in your area. This year, comic book characters such as Harley Quinn, Joker, Wonder Woman, and Batman are topping the charts. By searching the map, users can learn the most and least trendy costumes in major U.S. cities.

If you’re more concerned with offering up the most popular Halloween candy, product review platform Influenster polled more than 40,000 users in 2015 to reveal the favorite candy in each U.S. state. According to the map, the candy with the most fans is Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, followed by Kit Kat and Butterfinger.

Ensure a great treat haul this Halloween with Nextdoor’s Treat Map. If you’re heading out to trick-or-treat, pull up the free app to learn which houses near you are in the Halloween spirit. If you’re distributing candy, mark your home to let the neighborhood know you have treats to offer.

Keep a close eye on your children while they are trick-or-treating with Glympse’s Track & Treat app. The app leverages GPS data from your child’s phone so you can see where they are in real time.
