If you’re traveling to Rio de Janerio for the 2016 Summer Olympics, Google Maps is working to simplify your travel around the city by adding indoor maps to the Olympic venues, as well as enhancing outdoor maps of the games’ arenas. These features will be made available on Google Maps for desktop, Android, and iOS devices. Additionally, the Rio de Janeiro-Galeão International Airport had a tech makeover in time for the summer games. According to an article on ZDNet, the airport partnered with Hewlett Packard Enterprise and its subsidiary Aruba Networks to replace its network infrastructure to support wireless services using around 3,000 proximity beacons. The airport app also includes indoor mapping with turn-by-turn directions, flight status updates, and the ability to pay for airport parking.
