Friday’s Food for Thought: A New Map for America

Parag Khanna rethinks a new U.S. map

In this weekend’s New York Times Sunday Review, Parag Khanna, author, TED speaker, global strategist, and managing partner of Hybrid Realty, argues that the U.S. must evolve toward a more functional map built around connected urban hubs of advanced industry—creating a “United City-States of America.” According to Khanna, it’s not enough for the presidential candidates to debate; this is the generational project of renewal the U.S. needs to remain the leading 21st century superpower.
