Oracle Purchases Textura; DigitalGlobe Partners with Auracle Geospatial Team; Mercom to Expand Operations; CA Technologies Builds App for CNN

Oracle Purchases Textura

Oracle announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Textura, valued at approximately $663 million. Textura is a provider of construction contracts and payment management cloud services. Together, Textura and Oracle Primavera—a suite of cloud solutions for project, cost, time, and risk management—will form the Oracle Engineering and Construction Global Business Unit. The new business unit will offer a comprehensive, cloud-based project control and execution platform that manages all phases of engineering and construction projects.

DigitalGlobe Partners with Auracle Geospatial Team

DigitalGlobe announced Auracle Geospatial as its newest global information partner. Auracle is a provider of remote sensing and geospatial services for mineral, oil, and gas exploration and natural resource management around the world. The combination of Auracle’s mining analytics expertise with DigitalGlobe’s satellite spectral capabilities will provide mining companies with new, cost-effective solutions to support exploration and development.

Mercom to Expand Operations

Mercom Corporation is investing approximately $6 million in expanding existing operations in Georgetown County, S.C., where the company is based. Mercom will create 152 new jobs with hiring projected to begin in Q4 2016. The company will construct a new 20,000-square-foot building across the street from its existing complex, and will also retrofit an existing 5,000-square-foot building on the project property. Construction is expected to be completed in 2020.

CA Technologies Builds App for CNN

CNN Politics released Campaign 2016, a data-centric app that tracks the latest polling, delegate, voting and fundraising data behind the 2016 presidential race. The app was built by CA Technologies, and incorporates its CA API Management and CA Mobile App Analytics products. The app is only available to iOS users and can be downloaded via the app store.

DARPA Exhibit to Open in Chicago Museum

Visitors to the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry will get a peek into the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) with a new exhibit. The museum will open a 5,000 square-foot exhibit May 5 that will feature displays and activities for all ages. The exhibit will include digital and interactive workstations where kids can build their own virtual robots, see a large-scale model of DARPA’s submarine-tracking ship, and much more. The exhibit will run through Sept. 5.
