Air Force Selects 10 Companies For Cybersecurity Program

Defense Systems reports the U.S. Air Force added 10 companies to a five-year cybersecurity program. Cyber Security and Information Systems Technical Area Tasks is a multiple-award contract that runs through November 2020 and covers research and development and test and evaluation efforts. The companies recently added to the program include USGIF Organizational Members Booz Allen Hamilton, Northrop Grumman Systems Information Sector, and TASC. See the full list of companies selected.

Orbit Logic to Provide NASA Communication Services

According to Sensor and Systems, General Dynamics selected Orbit Logic’s STK Scheduler software to enhance its NASA Space Network Ground Segment Sustainment solution. STK Scheduler will process communication service requests to produce a deconflicted schedule for NASA’s Tracking and Data Relay Satellite Systems (TDRSS). TDRSS provides communication services between ground-based users and government spacecraft operated by NASA and other organizations.

German Ministry of Defence to Use Airbus TanDEM-X Data

Airbus Defense and Space and the German Ministry of Defence signed a contract for the government’s use of TanDEM-X mission data to update the Digital Elevation Model of the Bundeswehr—the unified armed forces of Germany and their civil administration and procurement authorities. Satnews reports the agreement includes both licenses for the utilization of the global elevation data set as well as supports services for data management and data editing.

Aerojet Rocketdyne To Produce NASA RS-25 Engine

NASA awarded Aerojet Rocketdyne a $1.16 billion to restart production of the RS-25 engine for the Space Launch System, the rocket designed for the journey to Mars. According to the press release, the contract is expected to run through September 2024.

Blue Origin Makes Historic Landing

Blue Origin’s New Shepard space vehicle successful ascended to 100.5 kilometers and returned to the ground near its West Texas launch site, reports Spaceflight Now. This is the first commercial vehicle to launch under its own power, reach the edge of space, and return to Earth intact.

Ellen McCarthy, former director of plans and programs at NGA, was named president of Noblis NSP. Before joining Noblis, McCarthy served as a member of NGA’s command leadership team, providing oversight for the execution and development of strategic direction, plans, programs, technology, and research and development.

According to Washington Technology, Splunk appointed Doug Merritt president and CEO. Merritt will also serve on the company’s board of directors. He was previously senior vice president of field operations.
