As the 2020 recipient of the RGi Scholarship for Geospatial and Engineering, Beth Wiberg has had the opportunity to network with several GEOINT professionals as she prepares to enter the workforce.

Wiberg is in her final semester at Ohio State University, where she will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in GIS. During the past semester, she has worked as an undergraduate GIS research assistant on a team within the College of Social Work. She previously spent two summers as a GIS intern with AECOM, and she is currently interning with Blue Raster, a web technology and mapping solutions company.

“I feel very honored to receive this scholarship from USGIF and Reinventing Geospatial Inc. As a female in a STEM field, one of my career goals is to encourage more young females with a passion in STEM to pursue it even if they don’t know their ultimate career destination. In all candor, my path to this point had many turns, setbacks and difficult challenges, overcome with many helpful people along the way, and I anticipate more turns and challenges to come,” said Wiberg.

She hopes to combine her Ohio State education and work experience to use GIS to support military and intelligence operations for the United States, and also contribute to humanitarian causes around the world similar to her work at Blue Raster and Ohio State’s College of Social Work.
