ICEYE Releases SAR Imagery at Under 1-Meter Resolution

ICEYE released better-than 1-meter resolution imagery captured by its SAR small satellites. The new Spotlight imaging capability builds on ICEYE’s legacy of leading the way on small sat SAR. With new satellites being launched still during 2019, ICEYE continues to develop and optimize its imaging capabilities for customers in both commercial and government markets.

ManTech Acquires H2M Group

ManTech completed its acquisition of H2M Group, a provider of intelligence analysis services and solutions to primarily the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). H2M offers a range of services that support the Intelligence Community, including geospatial analysis, imagery and full motion video analysis, GEOINT operations, and cartography.

HawkEye 360 Receives $70M in Series B Financing

HawkEye 360 secured $70 million in Series B financing. With this funding, the company will focus on providing fast and relevant RF analytics to support growing customer demand. The funding will also capitalize the company’s build-out and launch of its commercial satellite constellation as well as the development of HawkEye’s RF analytic products. This financing also supports the development and launch of four additional satellite clusters, which will form a fully operational constellation made of 18 satellites.

Maxar Awarded Air Force GEOINT Contract

Maxar Technologies received a $14.2M contract to help the U.S. Air Force develop an automated workflow for cloud-based national geospatial intelligence analysis. According to a Department of Defense notice published Friday, the company will help the service reduce delays of production, exploitation, and gathering of geospatial intelligence under the Red Wing Next Generation GEOINT Cloud effort. 

Planet Enters into Agreement with ESA

Planet entered into an agreement with the European Space Agency (ESA) that provides the ESA access to both the PlanetScope and SkySat constellations. Through this partnership, ESA will be able to use these tools in conjunction with its Earth observation satellites and third party missions. Previously, ESA only had access to RapidEye satellites under the EarthNet Programme. ESA aims to expand its tools to share resources and knowledge for the benefit of all citizens. 

Capella Space Partners with Addvalue and Inmarsat

Capella Space entered into an agreement with Addvalue to use its Inter-Satellite Data Relay System (IDRS) via Inmarsat’s global L-band satellite communications network. Inmarsat’s network will enable Capella to task any satellite in its constellation in any location in the world in real-time. Through this agreement, Capella aims to be the only SAR provider in the world with real-time tasking. 

LeoLabs Reveals Satellite Tracking Service

LeoLabs revealed LeoTrack, a commercial satellite tracking service for small sat operators. LeoTrack is delivered as a web-based subscription and will offer operators multiple monitoring capabilities such as precision tracking of satellites, orbital state vectors, and predictive radar availability.

Kleos and Spire Partner on Safety at Sea

Kleos Space and Spire Global announced a collaboration to combine Spire AIS data with Kleos RF data to create a new shared capability to bring safety at sea. Kleos and Spire have entered into an agreement to create enhanced tools for maritime safety. The effort will support and augment tools for governments, maritime agencies, and all organizations with interest in detecting dark vessels.

Airbus Selects exactEarth for New Maritime Applications Platform 

Airbus Defence and Space selected exactEarth for a two-year agreement to support its Ocean Finder maritime service. Through this agreement, exactEarth will provide Airbus with live and archived data from exactView RT and data from their high-performance AIS payload hosted on the PAZ radar satellite.

Joseph Maguire, director of the National Counterterrorism Center, has been named by President Trump to assume the role of Acting Director of National Intelligence effective Aug. 15, the same day DNI Dan Coats and PDDNI Sue Gordon have announced they will retire.

Former U.S. Secretary of Defense James N. Mattis was elected to General Dynamics’ board of directors. Mattis is a Davies Family Distinguished Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University and previously served on the GD board of directors from August 2013 to January 2017.

The Honorable Dr. Christopher Scolese was sworn in as the 19th director of the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) by the Honorable Joseph Kernan, Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence, Aug. 5.
