DIA Selects 16 Firms to Support Military Intelligence 

The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) awarded 16 companies spots on a potential 10-year, $17.1B contract to support military intelligence for national security policy-makers, defense planners, and warfighters. Each company will be eligible to compete for firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-incentive-fee, time-and-material, and cost-plus-award-fee task orders. The selected companies include: BAE Systems, Bluehawk, Booz Allen Hamilton, CACI International, Calhoun International, Celestar, Edge Analytic Solutions, Huntington Ingalls Industries, General Dynamics Information Technology, Invictus International Consulting, Leidos, Mission Essential, Perspecta, Preting, SOS International, and The Buffalo Group.

Leidos to Provide Intelligence Aircraft Support for U.S. Army

The U.S. Army awarded Leidos a task order to provide aircraft ISR support services. The award has a one-year base period of performance followed by four one-year option periods, and an approximate value of $428 million. Leidos will support the Army’s Product Director, Airborne Reconnaissance Low (PD ARL), which requires support for low-profile intelligence aircraft systems such as the ARL-M, ARL-E, and Saturn Arch.

ManTech Wins $322 Million to Support Marine Corps Intelligence

Under the DoD Information Analysis Center’s Multiple-Award Contract, ManTech was awarded a five-year $322 million task order to support the U.S. Marine Corps Intelligence Activity. ManTech will develop technical recommendations on application of IT, process and policy improvements, systems integration and cyber operations, and provide analytics of GEOINT for the U.S. Marine Corps, Expeditionary Operating Forces, and the Intelligence Community.

UrtheCast Secures $6.6 Million in Financing

Vancouver-based geospatial analytics company UrtheCast announced the closing of $6.6 million in financing from Vine Rose Limited. The funding consists of a senior unsecured convertible debenture in the principal amount of $2.9 million and a senior unsecured non-convertible debenture in the principal amount of $3.6 million.

FEMA Selects Dewberry for Disaster Housing Assistance

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) selected Dewberry to assist the Direct Housing Assessment Team (DHAT). Dewberry will aid in capturing information and pre-operations planning to facilitate the transportation and installation of manufactured housing units at private, group, or commercial sites in disaster areas. Dewberry will also provide DHAT with credible, objective, and timely information and analysis necessary to determine the direct housing assistance needed to address temporary and permanent housing requirements following disasters.  

Ball Aerospace and Microsoft to Demonstrate Cloud Processing Capabilities

Ball Aerospace and Microsoft were selected to demonstrate agile cloud processing capabilities in support of the Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center’s Commercially Augmented Space Inter Networked Operations (CASINO) project. The demonstration will show how simultaneous, worldwide data streams from large, distributed constellations of small satellites can be processed quickly using Microsoft’s Azure cloud and Ball Aerospace algorithms.

HawkEye 360 Awards Satellite Manufacturing Contract

HawkEye 360 awarded UTIAS Space Flight Laboratory a manufacturing contract for its next generation of satellites. The contract, enabled by the HawkEye’s recent $70 million in Series B financing, will expand the company’s constellation to 18 satellites, achieving routine revisits of less than an hour for increased global persistence.

Airbus Expands Capabilities For OceanFinder

Airbus Defence and Space released the latest version of OceanFinder, its digital maritime service to detect, identify, and track collaborative and non-collaborative vessels around the globe. The updates introduce a number of innovative features that extend the service’s capabilities in several key areas. Users will benefit from enhanced imagery and AIS data correlation to identify the precise location of a non-responding vessel in near real-time.

Jeff Tellefsen was hired as the new Head of Product at Orbital Insight. Tellefsen will lead Orbital Insight’s global product vision for its recently-launched GO platform, which enables investors, corporations, and governments alike to make informed policy and business decisions.

Planet Federal announced the hiring of Sam Unger as Sr. Director of Federal Sales and Carrie Drake as Director of Communications & Marketing. Unger was previously a Business Development Manager, IIS/CSI for Raytheon, and Drake was previously Director of Strategic Engagement & Outreach for OGSystems, a Parsons Company.
