BlackSky Secures $50M in Funding

BlackSky has secured a $50 million senior secured loan from Intelsat. The transaction creates a strategic relationship that pairs Earth observation with a global communications infrastructure. It will allow BlackSky to enhance existing assets and alliances, ensuring it remains a leader in delivering actionable Earth intelligence faster, with greater accuracy, and more affordably. Over time, BlackSky could incorporate access to Intelsat’s robust global communications infrastructure, delivering first-to-know insights to customers no matter where they are.

BAE Systems Creates Advanced Radar Jamming Technology

The U.S. Army awarded BAE Systems research and development funding to create an advanced radar jamming technology. The technology aims to improve air survivability and mission effectiveness for U.S. Army rotary-wing aircraft and unmanned aerial systems (UAS) by detecting and defeating complex and unknown threats in electronic combat. BAE Systems FAST Labs research and development team will design technology to integrate adaptive radio frequency jamming and sensing capabilities into one system. BAE Systems technology will combine multiple, software-programmable antennas into a digital phased array that will enable simultaneous functions, exceeding existing capabilities while reducing the size, weight, and power (SWaP) of current systems. The technology will enable these platforms to safely fly closer to threats and within contested areas while remaining protected.

Oracle Achieves DISA and DoD IL4 Provisional Authorization

Oracle Cloud Applications achieved Impact Level 4 (IL4) Provisional Authorization from the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). Oracle can now offer its software-as-a-service (SaaS) cloud suite to additional government agencies within the DoD community. DoD selected Oracle Human Capital Management (HCM) Cloud to help transform its HR operations in support of 900,000 civilian employees. Oracle Cloud Applications enable customers to benefit from best-in-class functionality, robust security, high-end scalability, mission-critical performance, and strong integration capabilities.

Woolpert Completes Phase 1 of GIS Development

Woolpert has completed the first phase of a contract with a Houston land development firm to develop a proof of concept for developing an enterprise GIS system to improve and advance business functions and communications. Woolpert introduced Esri’s ArcGIS Online (AGOL) to create a visualization application interface for staff collaboration, project information, and project marketing data. It enabled staff and clients to access necessary data and expand analytical capabilities within a secure, user-friendly environment. The second phase in now underway, which entails the creation of GIS/CAD standards, financial data integration, and data and app creation based on user preference and GIS support.

Peraton Expands Network Reach

Peraton established two network Points-of-Presence (PoPs) in Honolulu, Hawaii, and Denver, Colorado, creating new options for customers who require direct communications between the continental U.S. and missions in the Pacific region. The new PoPs provide diverse cross-continent paths that reliably deliver connectivity to over 50 major metropolitan areas and government installations, which interconnects the Peraton satellite and wired network capabilities across the U.S., Europe, Middle East, and Pacific and Atlantic Ocean regions.
