Northrop Grumman Updates Oyster Monitoring in Chesapeake Bay

Northrop Grumman partnered with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) to host the Oyster Monitoring Tech Showcase, highlighting both organizations’ work in monitoring oyster populations in the Chesapeake Bay. Northrop Grumman will create a single, remote-sensing technology system to monitor the oyster populations. The low-cost system, and training on its operation, will be provided to the CBF to help the foundation reach its goal of adding 10 billion oysters in the Bay by 2025.

Raytheon Modernizes U.S. Air Force Missile Warning Architecture

The U.S. Air Force awarded Raytheon a 5-year $197 million contract to modernize its missile warning architecture with a new system that will collect and fuse data from an array of sensors and provide a comprehensive picture of launch activity. Under this contract, Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services developed a completely open framework, Future Operationally Resilient Ground Evolution (FORGE) Mission Data Processing Application Framework (MDPAF). The FORGE MDPAF will process Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) satellite data from both the U.S. Air Force’s evolving Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) constellation and the future Next Gen OPIR constellation, as well as be capable of processing data from other civil and environmental sensors.
