Northrop Grumman Completes First Docking of Mission Extension Vehicle

Northrop Grumman, and its wholly owned subsidiary, SpaceLogistics successfully completed the first docking of the Mission Extension Vehicle-1 (MEV-1) to the Intelsat 901 (IS-901) spacecraft in order to provide life-extension services. This historic accomplishment marks the first time two commercial satellites have docked in orbit and the first time that mission extension services will be offered to a satellite in geosynchronous orbit. MEV-1 completed the historic docking with IS-901 on February 25 at 2:15 a.m. ET. The combined spacecraft stack will now perform on-orbit checkouts before MEV-1 begins relocating the combined vehicle to return IS-901 into service in late March.

Dell Technologies to Provide Industry’s Fastest Hybrid Cloud Deployment

Dell Technologies announced the latest development to Dell Technologies Cloud, including a new subscription-based model that makes it easier to buy and scale hybrid clouds, lowering the barrier of entry and speeding time to value. Offered with infrastructure services, Dell Technologies provides the industry’s fastest hybrid cloud deployment, allowing a growing number of customers to accelerate hybrid cloud deployments and simplify IT operations.

AT&T’s FirstNet Expands Nationwide LTE Coverage Area

Nationwide LTE coverage has surpassed 2.61 million square miles to support AT&T and FirstNet subscribers. AT&T is rampantly expanding the LTE coverage area for its network and FirstNet public safety communications platform. This means more first responders and the communities they serve—rural, urban and tribal—are gaining access to the critical communications capabilities they need.

HERE Unveiled Geodata Models to Aid in the Deployment of 5G

HERE Technologies unveiled HERE Geodata Models to help accelerate the telecommunications industry’s planning and deployment of 5G wireless networks while reducing network planning operational expenses. HERE Geodata Models is a highly precise and scalable 3D digital representation of the buildings, trees and roadside objects (e.g. streetlights, utility poles, overpasses, billboards, etc.) making up the physical environment surrounding 5G antennas. The 3D digital representations provide 5G network planners and radio frequency (RF) engineers with the ability to remotely conduct field surveys and precisely plan where to locate 5G antennas in order to create optimal signal coverage.
