Dewberry Awarded Multiple USGS Earth MRI Task Orders

Dewberry was awarded multiple task orders from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) under the Geospatial Products and Services Contract (GPSC) to perform airborne geophysical surveys in portions of Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Texas, and New Mexico, for the USGS Earth Mapping Resources Initiative (Earth MRI). For this project, Dewberry will perform very low altitude magnetic and radiometric surveys from a fixed-wing aircraft and a helicopter with towed-array sensors in order to image subsurface geologic structures in search of undiscovered critical minerals and rare earth elements vital for the electronics industry. These projects, which will be used to evaluate the potential for undiscovered critical mineral deposits contributing to an understanding of the major mineral systems for the two regions, are expected to be completed in early 2021.

Aerospace Hosts Groundbreaking Event for New Building Dedicated to Space Warfighting

The Aerospace Corporation (Aerospace) celebrated the official groundbreaking of its new state-of-the-art research and development center with a small, socially distanced ceremony in Colorado Springs, Colo. Local government members were in attendance, along with leadership from U.S. Space Command and U.S. Space Force. Aerospace’s facility will be the focal point for delivering technical expertise across the space enterprise to outpace threats to national security. The building’s digital engineering environment will enable high-fidelity analysis and physics-based modeling and simulations as well as development of tactics, techniques, and procedures that will provide insight into space warfighting.

Parsons Selected for $69M in U.S. Air Force Contracts

Parsons was selected for three task orders totaling $69 million under the company’s Global Application Research, Development, Engineering, and Maintenance (GARDEM) indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). The task orders are expected to be awarded in 2020. All contracts are three-year efforts that deliver worldwide on-site mission support and software application enhancements to the AFRL’s operational command and control, situational awareness, and space capabilities. Parsons has provided mission support to the AFRL for more than 20 years.

Amentum to Acquire DynCorp International

Amentum and DynCorp International (DynCorp), a worldwide leader in aviation and logistics support services, announced that an Amentum affiliate will acquire DynCorp. The acquisition, once finalized, will create one of the largest providers of mission-critical support services, with more than $6 billion of combined revenue over the last 12 months. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The combination with DynCorp will accelerate Amentum’s growth, enhance market access and transform the company into one of the largest in the industry, with more than 34,000 employees in more than 30 countries around the world.

PEER INTEL

Dewberry announced that Frank Leatherwood, PE, joined the firm as a project engineer in its Pensacola, Florida, office. Leatherwood joins the firm with more than two decades of experience in site/civil design and commercial, industrial, utility, and institutional developments.

Aerospace elected three new members to its board of trustees; Admiral Cecil D. Haney, Lieutenant General Vincent (Vince) R. Stewart, and the Honorable Michael McCord. Haney retired in January 2017 after completing 38 years of distinguished service in the U.S. Navy. Stewart retired from the U.S. Marine Corps after more than 38 years of active commissioned service to the nation. McCord served at the U.S. Department of Defense as Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller)/Chief Financial Officer and, before that, as the Principal Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller).
