Peraton Completes Acquisition Of Perspecta

On May 6, 2021, Peraton announced its completion of the acquisition of Perspecta Inc., which established Peraton as the world’s leading mission capability integrator and transformative IT provider.

The announcement follows the company’s February acquisition of Northrop Grumman’s integrated mission support and IT solutions business. This new Peraton unites the three heritage companies to create a top-tier, next generation national security provider.

Norwegian Space Agency launches new Microsatellite, NorSat-3

On April 28, 2021, the Norwegian Space Agency announced a successful launch of the new NorSat-3 maritime tracking microsatellite, built by Space Flight Laboratory (SFL) in Toronto.

The two key instruments aboard is an Automatic Identification System and an experimental navigation radar detector to help aid maritime vessels. The combination of these two instruments will help provide better awareness for the Norwegian Coastal Administration, Armed Forces, and other maritime authorities.

TCarta Delivers Satellite-Derived Bathymetry to NOAA for U.S. Coastal Mapping Pilot

Satellite-Derived Bathymetry (SDB) is considered a fast and inexpensive alternative imagery solution for coastal zones, with imagery and bathymetric measurements collected in a matter of days.

Subcontracted by Woolpert, TCarta created products for two project pilots to enable NOAA to test the use of SDB in the Green Bay area of western Lake Michigan and around Cape Cod / Nantucket Sound. Both areas have experienced natural forces that alter the underwater terrain faster than traditional bathymetric calculations can be completed.

Parsons Awarded $618 Million Cyber & Intelligence Task Order

The U.S. General Services Administration awarded Parsons a $618 million task order on May 5, 2021.

The goal is to advance the Intelligence Community’s global cyber and intelligence technologies for C5ISR, exercise, operations, and information services. Parsons will provide capabilities in open-source intelligence (OSINT), system engineering, integrated training, research and development, and rapid prototyping, enabling the customer’s ability to process, exploit, disseminate, and act on information against emerging and evolving threats.

Proposed Space National Guard Gathers Momentum

The National Guard plans to deliver recommendations to the defense secretary on how to establish a space-focused component of the part-time volunteer force. Yet it faces similar issues that harassed the Space Force in December of 2019 regarding organizational costs.

A Congressional Budget Office report from June 2020 estimated a Space National Guard would cost at least $100 million per year.

Intermap Supports Accelerating Growth in the UAV Industry

May 10, 2021, Intermap announced their NEXTViewTM elevation data is now available through cloudeo’s data-as-a-service platform.

With the fast-growing UAS/UAV industry, customers around the world can easily access the NEXTView elevation data, through the cloudeo platform, to make flight operations safer and more efficient. NEXTView can also be used for other applications, such as telecommunications, infrastructure planning, vegetation management, and urban planning.
