NGA Updates Commercial GEOINT Strategy, to Host Industry Day Aug. 13

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) released a commercial GEOINT strategy update, emphasizing innovation in the face of a rapidly advancing technological landscape. The strategy focuses on partnerships, information assurance, and the integration of commercial GEOINT with automation and AI.

NGA will also host the Olympus Industry Day and technical exchange at its Springfield, Va., and St. Louis, Mo., campuses Aug. 13. The event will provide a forum for data brokers, content and data service providers, integrators, and developers to learn about Defense Department and NGA acquisition processes and interact with agency experts on upcoming capability requirements.

Leidos Wins DIA Linguistics Contract

Leidos won a potential five-year, $170 million contract to help the Defense Intelligence Agency analyze and translate content originally produced in a foreign language. The contract covers services to translate captured, seized, or otherwise acquired digital media and documents.

Radiant Solutions Debuts Facial Recognition for AFIX Tracker

Radiant Solutions announced the release of AFIX Tracker FR, a complete turn-key system that provides fingerprint, palm print, and facial identification in a single multi-modal platform. AFIX Tracker includes hardware, software, support, and onsite training in both system operation and facial identification techniques. The product is offered in partnership with Secure Planet and Rank One Computing, whose algorithms yield one of the industry’s lowest failure-to-enroll rates.

 Booz Allen Receives GSA Task Order, Grows San Antonio Offices

The General Services Administration’s Federal Systems Integration and Management Center awarded Booz Allen Hamilton a five-year, $885 million contract to provide an eMAPS solution enabling the DoD and IC to rapidly employ AI, neural, and deep neural networks. The contract will focus on integrating machine learning capabilities with a full spectrum of C4ISR systems in support of military operations.

Additionally, Booz Allen is set to add an estimated 90 jobs at its two offices in San Antonio, mostly in areas such as network engineering, cybersecurity, and data science.

Accenture to Build New Data Center for Library of Congress

Accenture Federal Services was awarded a contract to build a new data center for the Library of Congress and the U.S. Copyright Office as well as to migrate the library’s current data center to new hosting environments. The contract has an estimated value of $27.3 million over 1-3 years. 

Senzing and Mithril Partner to Democratize Entity Resolution 

Senzing announced last week an investment from Mithril Capital Management. The companies are partnering to ensure complete democratization of Senzing’s entity resolution 2.0 technology. Entity resolution determines who is who and who is related to who in data, and can offer an advantage in any application, from finding duplicates in an address book to searching for criminal or fake identities.

FOAM and Status Partner on Geospatial Functionality

Status, an Ethereum-based payment app, and FOAM announced a strategic partnership to pursue greater geospatial functionality, ensure compatibility, and integrate FOAM protocols with the Status app. Smart contracts built into Status’ system and operations would offer a decentralized geospatial function.

TerraGo and Avenza to Host Annual GeoPDF Working Group Meeting

TerraGo will host the 11th annual U.S. Government Geospatial PDF Working Group Meeting at the USGS office in Reston, Va., Aug. 8. The free meeting will include industry sessions detailing the use and creation of TerraGo’s GeoPDF applications and geospatial PDF. Sessions focusing on how organizations and government agencies use the technology to enhance their missions are also planned. Avenza Systems is TerraGo’s partner in the event. Those who cannot attend in person may register to view a live stream of the meeting.

Planet appointed Nathan Dickerman, former VP of Worldwide Sales & Operations at AppDirect, as the company’s new chief commercial officer. Dickerman will oversee Planet’s customer-facing and partner functions, lead cross-functional teams, and help drive market strategy for data and analytics.

President Trump announced his intent to nominate Kelvin Droegemeier of Oklahoma to be director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy. The President also appointed Vaughn F. Bishop, a career CIA intelligence analyst, to serve as deputy to CIA director Gina Haspel.

Octo Consulting announced the hires of Simon Godwin as VP of Federal Civilian programs and Craig Summers as VP focusing on commerce accounts. Both have decades of experience in IT operations, software development, and program management.
