State Department Seeks Global Information Awareness; Second Lockheed GPS Satellite Available for Launch; Hexagon Geospatial Partners with Brilliant Remote Sensing Labs; More

State Department Seeks Global Information Awareness

The U.S. State Department released a request for information (RFI) to determine industry’s ability to provide near-real-time information discovery, awareness capabilities, and alerts about global events of interest. The RFI indicates the agency values versatility and is looking for tools to understand online data across languages and sources, to gather public opinion data, to measure product effectiveness, and more. Responses must be submitted by August 31.

Second Lockheed GPS Satellite Available for Launch

The U.S. Air Force declared the second Lockheed Martin-built GPS III satellite is technically sound, fully tested, and ready to launch. The first GPS III satellite is currently being prepared for shipment to Cape Canaveral, Fla., where it will launch before the end of the year. Once in orbit, GPS III will be the most powerful GPS satellite ever, with triple the accuracy of other satellites and up to eight times improved anti-jamming capabilities. Lockheed Martin is now in full production on 10 GPS III satellites.

Hexagon Geospatial Partners with Brilliant Remote Sensing Labs

Brilliant Remote Sensing Labs (BRS-Labs) is now a developing education partner of Hexagon’s Geospatial division. BRS-Labs has developed a full online educational program in the field of remote sensing and satellite image processing, including training, evaluation, testing, and certification. It currently features 94 lectures, 16 short courses, and a question repository, and through the partnership offers all students free educational licenses for Hexagon’s ERDAS IMAGINE software.

Carahsoft Offers CloudBees DevOps Suite Through NASA Contract

Carahsoft has partnered with CloudBees to make its automated software delivery systems available to the public sector through Carahsoft’s NASA Solutions for Enterprise-Wide Procurement (SEWP) Contract. Under the agreement, Carahsoft will serve as a distributor of CloudBees products to the public sector, including CloudBees Core for enterprise-level software delivery.

ManTech Selected for Army Cyber Training Initiative

ManTech was selected as one of four companies to collaboratively develop a prototype for the U.S. Army’s Persistent Cyber Training Environment (PCTE) through an Other Transaction Agreement with Consortium Management Group, Inc. Prototype work will involve approximately four “Cyber Innovation Challenges” in the next two years. In the first challenge, ManTech and its team will collaborate with the Army’s Product Manager of Cyber Resilience and Training to design and deploy the initial platform supporting PCTE.

KeyW Awarded Classified Software Solutions Contract

The KeyW Holding Corporation received a contract award with a classified customer to develop critical software solutions. The award has an expandable scope, and includes an initial total value exceeding $100 million over the next four to five years. The award includes a combination of new work and the continuation of software development efforts for classified systems supporting enduring national security missions.

PwC Public Sector Branch Rebrands to “Guidehouse”

The PricewaterhouseCoopers U.S. public sector business rebranded as “Guidehouse” nearly two months after being acquired by Veritas Capital. The company also launched a new website and social media presence last week. Scott McIntyre leads Guidehouse as CEO, and Deborah Ricci was hired earlier this month as CFO.
