MU Partners with Harris Corp. to Support NGA

The University of Missouri’s (MU) Center for Geospatial Intelligence has partnered with Harris Corp. to provide advanced geospatial products and services in support of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s (NGA) Foundation GEOINT Content Management program. Under this program, MU staff and students are using advanced geospatial methods to process and integrate a wide variety of new geospatial data sets while also enhancing the spatial accuracy and improving the information content of existing geospatial data sets.

SpaceX Launches NRO Payload

A National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) payload launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida May 1. NROL-76 is the second of five launches slated for NRO in 2017. The next NRO launch is scheduled for August 14 from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

Orbital Insight Closes Series C Funding

Orbital Insight raised $50 million in Series C financing from Sequoia, bringing the total invested in the company to $78.7 million. According to a TechCrunch article, Orbital Insight has grown to become one of the most capitalized startups in the geospatial analytics space.

exactEarth Announces Renewal with International Commercial Customer

exactEarth announced a two-year, $1.45 million agreement to provide vessel tracking data services to a major international commercial customer. The agreement is valued at a significant annual price increase as compared to the previous multi-year contract. Additionally, the agreement contains options to extend the relationship for an additional three years, which, if executed in full, would bring the contract’s five-year total value to $4.5 million. All dollar amounts are in Canadian dollars.

senseFly Releases New Platform

senseFly announced the release of senseFly Corridor, a new platform enhancement that simplifies the mapping of linear infrastructure and sites. According to Point of Beginning, corridor mapping is a common task for many geospatial professionals and important for the effective planning, design, and analysis of linear infrastructure as well as the monitoring of rivers and coastlines. senseFly Corridor offers three benefits: better ground resolution, fewer images and shorter process times, and easier corridor mapping.
