DigitalGlobe Selected to Create a Geospatial Cloud Analytics Hub for DARPA

Maxar’s DigitalGlobe was awarded a contract valued at $3.2 million by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to provide an unclassified environment with multi-source content for geospatial cloud analytics. The platform, called the Geospatial Cloud Analytics Hub (GCA Hub), will enable military and intelligence end users to leverage machine learning to extract insights at scale and make critical decisions. DigitalGlobe’s Geospatial Big Data platform will serve as the foundation for DARPA’s GCA Hub. MDA, also a Maxar company, will provide RADARSAT-2 SAR data and data curation and processing tools to help DARPA users detect features and change faster and more accurately within GCA Hub.

Planet and Orbital Insight Expand Partnership 

Planet announced a multi-year contract to provide Orbital Insight with daily, global 3.7 meter PlanetScope imagery and .72-centimeter resolution SkySat imagery for any location on Earth. These datasets will enable Orbital Insight to develop analytic software for use cases such as counting cars, trains, and ships, as well as monitoring commercial and residential real estate construction. This agreement is an expansion of an existing partnership between the two companies.

Air Force Awards GPS III Follow-On Contract to Lockheed

The U.S. Air Force awarded Lockheed Martin a fixed-price $7.2 billion contract to develop 22 GPS III follow-on satellites to provide communications, command and control, missile warning, nuclear detonation detection, weather, and navigation for the world. The first GPS follow-on satellite is expected to be available for launch in 2026.

MapR and Deloitte Partner on AI Analytics

MapR Technologies announced a partnership with Deloitte Consulting to offer artificial intelligence and analytics solutions built on MapR’s foundational data platform in areas such as big data modernization, cloud analytics, and IoT distributed analytics. The alliance is intended to help customers benefit from advances in AI, to reduce costs by modernizing their environments, and to take advantage of recent cloud and IoT innovations.

DIA Awards Nine Spots on HELIOS Contract

The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) awarded nine positions on the potential 10-year, $500 million High Energy Laser and Integrated Optical-dazzler with Surveillance (HELIOS) system contract. Awardees are AT&T, Booz Allen Hamilton, Harris, KeyW Corporation, Leidos, Lockheed Martin, Macaulay-Brown, Northrop Grumman, and Southwest Research Institute. Contractors will support DIA’s science and technology directorate and compete for technical task orders in mission areas such as space situational awareness, foreign counter space threats, IoT, data exfiltration, and rapid prototyping.

Woolpert Wins USACE Mapping Contract

Woolpert was selected for a $49 million architecture and engineering contract to provide survey and mapping for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). Under this contract, Woolpert will serve on the teams of other awarded firms to support civil, military, and interagency programs within the Mobile District and the South Atlantic Division’s Area of Operation.

Dewberry to Provide Analytics on City of Houston

Dewberry was selected as a consultant to Civis Analytics to perform comprehensive data analytics, including flood hazard and property loss modeling and damage estimation, to support Houston’s post-Hurricane Harvey recovery. The resulting data will be accessible through the new Houston Estimation and Analysis of Loss (HEAL) platform, which will provide the city with a comprehensive data collection and analytical architecture with the ability to calculate and report unmet needs at various levels, such as structure, parcel, and census block.

ManTech Awarded Contract Supporting Defense and Civil Agencies

ManTech was selected as an awardee on the $28 billion Information Analysis Center Multiple Award Contract (IAC MAC) by the Air Force Installation Contracting Agency. Under the nine-year contract, ManTech will compete for task orders in Pool 1 with a value of $15 million or greater, supporting disciplines ranging from cyber and information technology to defense systems and homeland security.

Riverside Research to Provide C4 Expertise to DoD

Riverside Research won a $135 million blanket purchase agreement to support the U.S. Department of Defense and Joint U.S. Service with defense and intelligence research, development, and operational missions. Under the contract, Riverside Research will provide command, control, communications, and computers (C4) expertise for the department’s technical data collection and analysis efforts.

Boundless Exchange Platform Now Available for State & Local Governments

The Boundless Exchange geospatial content management system is now available as an unlimited-user, managed service solution for state and local governments. The platform allows organizations to share maps without concerns about software licenses and number of users, and to plan for future budget cycles. The portal provides access to the latest cloud computing environments, simplified maintenance, and on-demand scalability.
