2019 National Intelligence Strategy Released; NGA Releases RFI on Military Positioning; BAE Systems Awarded NGA FMV Contract; More

2019 National Intelligence Strategy Released

Last week, Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats released the 2019 National Intelligence Strategy that will guide the U.S. Intelligence Community for the next four years. The strategy places particular emphasis on threats posed by new and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, automation, biotechnology, and high performance computing. The document also recognizes growing strategic challenges in space and cyberspace.

NGA Releases RFI on Military Positioning           

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency issued a request for information on how a contractor could identify and baseline military positions and equipment in a bounded geographic area. This would require review of commercial and/or classified imagery taken in the past 12 months. NGA looks to award a 12-month contract based on responses to this RFI. Interested parties may submit input until Feb. 13.

BAE Systems Awarded NGA FMV Contract

NGA awarded BAE Systems a five-year, $250 million contract to continue providing full-motion video (FMV) advanced analytic services, training, and intelligence production support. BAE will also stand up a new Performance Innovation Council to introduce NGA leaders to new FMV services, software, systems, platforms, and sensors.

Huntington Ingalls to Acquire Fulcrum 

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HHI) recently announced a deal to acquire Fulcrum IT Services. The planned acquisition is expected to close in February. Fulcrum will join HII’s Technical Solutions division, expanding the company’s situational awareness and predictive analytics capabilities. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Dr. Nadine Alameh will return to the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) March 1 to serve as CEO. Alamah was a member of the OGC staff from 2009 to 2014, serving initially as a director, then executive director, of OGC’s Interoperability Program. 

The Honorable James R. Clapper was named a senior advisor to StellarPeak Corp. In this position, Clapper will improve corporate strategic planning, business development, and market intelligence to drive StellarPeak’s growth within the Intelligence Community.

Maj. Gen. Charles Cleveland, vice director for intelligence, joint staff with the Defense Intelligence Agency, is moving to NGA to serve as director of operations and military deputy.

Dewberry announced the promotion of more than 65 employees nationwide, including 12 staff members within its Fairfax, Va., headquarters. This includes the promotion of Phil Thiel to executive vice president, a position in which he will oversee the company’s geospatial practice.
