Hexagon AB to Acquire Thermopylae Sciences & Technology

Hexagon AB announced the signing of an agreement to acquire Thermopylae Sciences and Technology, a software provider primarily focused on the U.S. government and defense market that specializes in geospatial applications, mobile frameworks, and cloud computing for location intelligence. Headquartered in Arlington, Va., Thermopylae will operate as a part of Hexagon’s Geospatial division.

Airbus Updates OneAtlas Platform

Airbus Defence and Space released a new version of its OneAtlas Platform, a collaborative environment to access premium imagery, perform large-scale image processing, extract industry-specific insights, and more. The new platform includes enhanced change detection capabilities, Ocean Finder for maritime-focused applications, and additional thematic services including those to help serve environmental needs. 

2019 IGAPP Grand Challenge Launched

SAIC announced its 2019 IGAPP Grand Challenge is now open. The challenge is an annual contest for app developers to create a mobile solution that addresses a DoD need. Vendors have three months to build, demonstrate, and deliver their app to the IGAPP team. GDIT to Modernize FAA’s National Airspace System Infrastructure 

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) announced it was awarded a contract by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to design, implement, install and maintain their Data, Visualization, Analysis and Reporting System (DVARS). The contract holds a total estimated value of $99 million and includes a two-year base period with five one-year options. DVARS will consist of commercial offerings as well as custom software components. This will support FAA’s strategic plan to improve its capabilities, access data, and perform analyses on National Airspace System operations. 

SpaceX Wins Potential $297M Contract for USAF, NRO Satellite Launches

SpaceX won a potential $297M contract to send U.S. Air Force and National Reconnaissance Office satellites into orbit during the government’s 2021 fiscal year. The firm-fixed-price contract covers launch services and the production of associated vehicles to support the AFSPC-44 mission as well as the NROL-87 and NROL-85 missions, according to the Department of Defense. DoD added SpaceX will provide mission integration, spaceflight worthiness, and other mission-specific activities.

Continental Mapping announced the hiring of Jeremiah Johnson as deputy general manager and Janus program manager. Johnson brings more than 13 years of experience from Leidos, Hexagon U.S. Federal, and Perspecta, where he directly supported the NGA Foundation mission for products and services. 

Woolpert hired Tom Ruschkewicz, RPLS, PLS, as a roads and bridges geospatial practice leader in its Transportation market. Ruschkewicz has more than 25 years of experience and a diverse background in the professional surveying and geospatial industries.
