GSA Awards Spots on Agile Blanket Purchase Agreement
The General Services Administration (GSA) authorized 16 businesses to sell “agile” technology development services to the federal government—including USGIF Organizational Members Booz Allen Hamilton, Esri, Vencore, and World Wide Technology—under a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA). The GSA’s tech consulting group, 18F, aims to shrink the time to deliver innovative prototypes from years to months or weeks. To be selected for a spot on the BPA, vendors were were required to submit prototypes based on public data sets and share their work in a public repository, according to 18F. The BPA will allow federal agencies to choose from a group of pre-approved vendors specializing in agile development. Although spots on this first list were limited, 18F referenced plans to “on-ramp” new vendors and even “off-ramp” vendors should they not perform.
