NGA Releases New Acquisition Strategy
The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) released its 2016 acquisition strategy, which details a leaner process and new methods for technology and innovative contracting. According to the press release, the document also contains strategies for leveraging open-source data, aligning efforts with NGA’s corporate strategy, and collaborating with customers and industry partners from beginning to end.
NGA Contracts Planet
Additionally, NGA signed a $20 million contract with Planet to access the company’s global commercial imagery. The National System for Geospatial Intelligence and select members of the civil federal community will use Planet Feed, which includes multispectral imagery from 3 to 5-meter and 6.7-meter resolution.
CACI Awarded NGA Contract
CACI announced it was awarded a prime position on the Full-Motion Video (FMV) functional area of the Multi-Intelligence Analytical and Collection Support Services contract to support NGA. CACI will provide airborne intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance as well as FMV expertise and analysis to NGA and its customers in support of U.S. and allied operations around the globe.
Orbital ATK to Build Remote Sensing Satellite for NASA
Orbital ATK received a NASA contract to design and build Landsat 9, an advanced land surface mapping satellite to be operated by the U.S. Geological Survey. Under the contract, Orbital ATK will design and manufacture the satellite, support the launch, and complete early orbit operations and on-orbit checkout of the observatory. Landsat 9 is scheduled for launch in December 2020.
WorldView-4 Launch Rescheduled for November
The launch of DigitalGlobe’s WorldView-4 satellite has been rescheduled for Nov. 6 from Vanenberg Air Force Base in California. The satellite was originally scheduled to launch Sept. 16, but launch was delayed due to a leak in ground equipment near the launch pad as well as a wildfire near the launch site.
CSRA to Support DIA
CSRA received a $167 million task order from the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) to provide enterprise IT support services. CSRA will oversee the Enterprise Service Operations Center, a network of self-help knowledge portals, remote service desk support, and in-field customer engagement support for DoDIIS customers.
