Dell and EMC Merge to Create Dell Technologies; WorldView-4 to Launch This Week; Tetra Tech Awarded NOAA Contract; TerraGo Updates GeoPDF; USGIF Organizational Members Make Inc. 5000 List
Dell and EMC Merge to Create Dell Technologies
Dell and EMC completed a $67 billion cash and stock merger to form information technology company Dell Technologies. Michael Dell will serve as chairman and CEO of Dell Technologies. Businesses that will operate under the new brand include Dell, Dell EMC, VMware, Boomi, Pivotal, SecureWorks, RSA, and Virtustream. The combined company will combine Dell’s experience with small- and medium-sized enterprises with EMC’s large business expertise.
WorldView-4 to Launch This Week
DigitalGlobe’s newest satellite, WorldView-4, is expected to launch Sept. 16 at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. The satellite will more than double the company’s capacity to collect the world’s highest resolution commercial satellite images. Read more about the satellite. The launch will be broadcast online with the launch window slated for between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m EST.
Additionally, Orbit Logic delivered an updated version of its Direct Access Facility Collection Planning System software to DigitalGlobe. The software will allow DigitalGlobe’s international direct access program partners to task and receive imagery from WorldView-4 in addition to GeoEye-1, WorldView-1, WorldView-2, and WorldView-3.
Tetra Tech Awarded NOAA Contract
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) awarded Tetra Tech a $49 million contract to support the Office for Coastal Management’s Digital Coast program. Tetra Tech is one of five contractors to share in the contracting ceiling over a five-year period. Tetra Tech will provide technical geospatial services to support NOAA’s mandate to manage U.S. coastal resources. Tetra Tech will leverage innovative collection methods to acquire, analyze, and process geospatial data to address critical coastal issues such as sea level rise, resiliency, sustainable land use, and marine planning.
TerraGo Updates GeoPDF
TerraGo announced version 7 of its TerraGo GeoPDF software suite. This latest release offers a number of new features designed to enable open, cross-platform, cloud, and mobile access to advanced maps, engineering drawings, high-resolution imagery, and other types of spatial data assets.
USGIF Organizational Members Make Inc. 5000 List
Inc. Magazine recently released its 2016 list of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in America. USGIF Organizational Members that made the list include Carahsoft Technology Corporation, CSG Solutions, Fulcrum IT Services, GuidePoint Security, InTec, ISPA Technology, Oasys, OGSystems, and Orbit Logic.
