NGA Issues RFI for Infrastructure Observation

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) issued a Request for Information on potential vendors that could provide a geospatial database for infrastructure observation before, during, and after a natural disaster. The request is in support of the Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Infrastructure Foundation Level Data (HIFLD) Program.

IARPA Releases BAA for Machine-Enabled Imagery Analysis

The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) released a draft solicitation April 12 for its Space-based Machine Automated Recognition Technique (SMART) program. SMART’s primary objective is to develop tools and techniques to automatically and dynamically execute broad-area search over diverse environments to detect construction and other activities using time-series spectral imagery. 

Slingshot Closes $5M in Seed Funding to Develop GEOINT Platform

Slingshot Aerospace, an advanced analytics company, recently announced $5 million in new seed funding. The round was led by ATX Venture Partners with participation from new investor Revolution’s Rise of the Rest Seed Fund. The investment had additional participation from previous investors Okapi Capital, Stage Venture Partners, Sway Ventures, and Techstars Ventures.

Deloitte Publishes Space Trends Report

Deloitte recently published “Technology Trends 2019: Beyond the digital frontier,” focused specifically on trends affecting the operators and users of space systems. The report looks at topics such as macro technology, AI, connectivity, marketing, and more. 

Microsoft Launches Two New Azure Government Secret Regions

Microsoft announced the initial availability of two new Azure Government Secret regions, now in private preview and pending accreditation. In addition, the company expanded the scope of all Azure Government regions to enable DoD Impact Level 5 data.
