Harris Produces Weather Satellite Instrument for South Korea

Harris Corp. delivered an advanced digital weather satellite instrument to the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, helping forecasters protect people in the region from severe weather. The Harris-built Advanced Meteorological Imager (AMI) will be integrated into the next-generation GEO-KOMPSAT-2A weather satellite, scheduled to launch in 2018. According to the Harris press release, AMI will deliver images with three times more data and four times the resolution at refresh rates five times faster than currently available in the region.

Altran and Luciad to Work with Dassault Aviation

French aerospace company Dassault Aviation has partnered with Altran and Luciad to design Dassault’s Mission Preparation Systems, known as OPERA, for its RAFALE and Mirage 2000 fighter jets. OPERA is used for training simulations and combat missions. The system prepares pilots by supplying them with aerial photographs, satellite images of terrain, aeronautical charts, 2D/3D topography, and other tactical and geographic data. OPERA then converts the data to a dedicated format for uploading to mission calculators.

Unmanned Underwater Vehicles Market to be Worth $5.2 Billion by 2022

The Unmanned Underwater Vehicles market is estimated at $2.69 billion in 2017 and is projected to reach $5.2 billion by 2022. This research was published in the report “Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUV) Market by Type (Remotely Operated Vehicle & Autonomous Underwater Vehicles), ROV & AUV Market by Application, Product, Propulsion System, Payload, and Region – Global Forecasts to 2022.” The growth of the market can be attributed to the rising number of deep-water offshore oil and gas production activities and increasing maritime security threats.
