Cesium and Komatsu Partner on Smart Construction

Cesium announced a partnership with Komatsu, the largest construction equipment manufacturer in Japan, to provide 3D geospatial technology for Komatsu Smart Construction. As experts in 3D data visualization, computer graphics, and open-source software, Cesium’s technology will help power Komatsu’s Smart Construction Dashboard, said Rod Schrader, chairman and CEO of Komatsu’s North American operations. Komatsu’s intelligent machines (excavators, bulldozers, dump trucks) along with drone surveys collect time-dynamic 3D geolocated data about earthworks construction sites. Cesium provides the 3D platform and application for users to visualize and analyze the virtual construction site from anywhere in the world.

Airbus SAFEcommand Continues to Support Welsh Emergency Services

Airbus was awarded contracts with all three Welsh Fire & Rescue Services (Mid & West Wales, North Wales, and South Wales) to continue support with its SAFEcommand product suite. Airbus has partnered with the Welsh Fire & Rescue Services for more than 20 years. The Airbus SAFEcommand product suite provides Fire & Rescue Services with in-vehicle operational risk information systems, incident command unit software, incident and status communications gateway, and a full range of back-office operational risk and water supply management solutions. Work is now underway to update all three services with the latest generation of SAFEcommand products, futureproofing the Welsh Fire & Rescue Services for the next seven years.

Red Hat Accelerates Petabyte-Scale Object Storage for Cloud-Native Workloads

Red Hat announced the general availability of Red Hat Ceph Storage 4 to deliver simplified, petabyte-scale object storage for cloud-native development and data analytics. Red Hat Ceph Storage 4 offers enhanced scalability and simplicity for a new generation of data-intensive applications and is based on the Nautilus version of the Ceph open-source project. It also enables organizations across a wide variety of industries, such as financial services, government, automotive, and telecommunications, to better support application development, data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and other emerging workload capabilities.

Hexagon Unveils Luciad 2020

Hexagon’s Geospatial division launched Luciad 2020, a significant update to its platform for building advanced location intelligence and real-time situational awareness applications. It delivers faster and more powerful 3D visualization and analysis capabilities. For the 2020 release, Hexagon added interactive model placement, interactive mesh operations, and additional capabilities for viewing and analyzing infrastructure in 3D. Luciad 2020 extends the portfolio with LuciadCPillar to incorporate advanced geospatial visualization and analysis into their applications. The Luciad portfolio allows developers to create powerful, high-performance applications that leverage data from any source for visualization and analysis in 2D and 3D. Combining static, dynamic, and real-time data, including moving tracks, Luciad-powered applications support defense, aviation, infrastructure, and other critical sectors.
