Esri Announces Launch of ArcGIS Field Maps

Esri announced the launch of the ArcGIS Field Maps mobile app. ArcGIS Field Maps is an all-in-one app that uses data-driven maps to help mobile workers collect and edit data, find information, plus report their real-time locations. ArcGIS Field Maps will solve many workflow challenges for organizations that have prioritized digital transformation from paper-based to digital field operations management. Organizations deploying mobile personnel will benefit from a single, powerful application that streamlines mobile operations and workflows by reducing the number of tools and optimizing field efficiencies with real-time location. This new app also combines three of Esri’s current mobile applications—ArcGIS Collector, ArcGIS Explorer, and ArcGIS Tracker—into a single tool. ArcGIS Field Maps is now available to download on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

BAE Systems Secures $94M to Deliver Advanced Technology to the U.S. Navy

BAE Systems was awarded a five-year $94 million single-award indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract to deliver advanced technology capability to the U.S. Navy. Building on 40 years of support to the U.S. Navy, this award from the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division’s (NAWCAD) Webster Outlying Field (WOLF) enables the company to provide engineering, test, and evaluation support for sensors as well as communication, control, and weapons systems for various manned and unmanned airborne platforms. On this contract, the company will use its innovative tools and methods such as digital engineering to create the digital thread that provides full design traceability to requirements, improved collaboration, and a digital repository for the Airborne Systems Integration Division.

Planet Joins The NASA-RFF VALUABLES Consortium

Planet announced that it has partnered with the NASA-Resources for the Future (RFF) Consortium for the Valuation of Applications Benefits Linked with Earth Science (VALUABLES). This program is a cooperative agreement between RFF, a longstanding leader in economic analysis and policy innovation for managing environmental and natural resources, and NASA to measure how satellite information benefits people and the environment when it is used to make decisions. VALUABLES also creates educational resources to help teach Earth science researchers how to quantify the value of their work. The hope is that through this, researchers will become more interested in the societal benefits of their work, thereby putting them in a better position to understand and advocate for Earth observation science as a whole. Planet is the first commercial Earth-observing data provider to join the consortium.

IBM and AMD to Advance Confidential Computing for the Cloud and Accelerate AI

IBM and AMD announced a multi-year joint development agreement to enhance and extend the security and artificial intelligence (AI) offerings of both companies. The joint development agreement will expand this vision by building upon open-source software, open standards, and open system architectures to drive confidential computing in hybrid cloud environments and support a broad range of accelerators across high-performance computing (HPC), and enterprise-critical capabilities such as virtualization and encryption.
